An ongoing project since 2005, pallets are sanded, decorated and released back to the world. The pallet above contains the entire text of On Bullshit by Harry G. Frankfurt. The Pallet Project blog is a source of information on the pallets and also provides information and links on how other artists and designers use wooden pallets.

This project has sort of fallen off my radar, but I'm interested in doing more. There's certainly enough pallets out there.
