about:

The Los Angeles Mobile Park was a small plot of land in a shopping cart.

Version 1 was a small garden of plants and herbs native to Southern California. It was dismantled when some of the plants started dieing.

Version 2 was filled with native California grasses that grew for about three months before I released it in downtown L.A. in late August 2006. My hope was to add some greenspace in a manner that mimics our mobile culture and provide a use for abandoned shopping carts.

On subsequent visits to the area where I released the cart, I was not able to locate it. I think it may have been quickly dismantled by someone who needed the cart for carrying things. This has led me to question my motives and the need for this project at all. In retrospect, I feel that I naively left a piece of trash—a nuisance—in the area.
