I was named after the German altar painter Matthias Grunewald. His most famous work is the Isenheim Altarpiece. For this piece, I made a 3-D version of the bleeding lamb and apothecary jar from that painting and paired them with a 1987 art education thesis by Tamyra Lynn Nordman. The thesis focused on a series of visits where Nordman observed and facilitated art making by me and my sister Kate.
